Design Something for Someone

Advice I wish I would have followed sooner: don’t try to design for everyone.

Aiming to please the masses with your design may sound noble, but it's a surefire path to mediocrity.

Embrace this mantra instead: “Design something for someone.”

This principle is crucial for early-stage products. Target a niche, alleviate a particular pain point, and the result? Crystal-clear feedback and a passionate user base that can't help but spread the word.

The beauty of this approach is once you have a loyal user base, you’ll have momentum to carry you into new offerings and eventually build something for a wider audience.
