I believe the world is shaped by people who make things.

Buildings. Products. Companies. Communities.

My career has been a somewhat unusual attempt to do all four.

Today, I’m the co-founder of BoomPop, where we’re reimagining how people gather, travel, and create memorable experiences together.

Before BoomPop, I helped launch new companies at Atomic, a venture studio that starts businesses from scratch. Before that, I worked on Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group (ATAP), where I helped design Jacquard, one of Google’s more ambitious attempts to blend the digital and physical worlds.

Long before software, I was trained as an architect and spent my early career designing spaces around the world with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Looking back, architecture taught me lessons I still use every day: start with people, embrace constraints, and sweat the details.

Along the way, I’ve built products for organizations ranging from Google and Adidas to the U.S. Department of Defense, taught thousands of design students, and co-founded communities for people working at the intersection of technology, design, and the built world.

Most of what I’ve built hasn’t worked.

For every success, there are dozens of products, experiments, side projects, and business ideas that quietly failed. Those failures have taught me far more than the wins ever did, and they’re probably the reason I keep building.

These days you’ll usually find me designing products, teaching, writing, boxing, skiing, or chasing whatever idea I can’t stop thinking about.
